Description

Officially named "Forest Service Road 648", this legendary trail was originally constructed in the 1800's to service Black Bear Mine, and has been open for off-road recreational travel since the late 1950's. The route offers some of the most incredible views of Telluride Valley, Ingram Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls. This road is narrow, and some areas have drop offs upwards of 1,000 feet. The mile-long stretch of steep switchbacks on the Telluride side above Bridal Veil Falls is rated as difficult, as there are some off-camber areas that will test your skills, and traffic direction is downhill only in this section.
