Description

Long Valley Road (same as Dog Valley Road in several sections) connects US395 near Bordertown to the Verdi area, after merging with Henness Pass Road. This specific route is an easy, scenic forest trail that passes right by Crystal Peak, known for its solid quartz summit block. The area is popular during the non-winter seasons as people come from all over the place to collect chunks of quartz. There is also a developed campground there. Continuing to follow this route will drop you out in Verdi. Note: This is not the same as the actual Crystal Peak OHV route, it is simply a scenic alternative and can be traveled in either direction.
